“Terrific day for Hasaranga”-Twitter reacts as Sri Lanka beats UAE by 79 runs

With the help of Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera’s bowling, Sri Lanka defeated UAE by 79 runs on Tuesday, October 18 at the GMHBA stadium in Gleelong.
UAE had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Opener Pathum Nissanka‘s 74-run innings guided the Islanders to a decent 152/8 in 20 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva also contributed 33 runs from 21 balls.
UAE didn’t have a flying start as Chameera dismissed Muhammad Waseem on just two runs. He then uprooted Aryan Lakra‘s wicket, before dismissing Chundangapoyil Rizwan.
Next, it was Hasaranga show. He scalped three wickets and conceded only eight runs with a maiden over in his four overs at an economy of 2. First, he dismissed Vriitya Aravind on nine runs (off 18 balls), before sending back Kashif Daud on duck. He grabbed his third wicket in the 15th over after sending Aayan Khan back to the dressing room.
No batters from the UAE team could reach the 20-run mark and eventually, they were all sent back to the pavilion after scoring 73 runs in the 17.1 overs. Nissanka was adjudged the Player of the Match for his knock.
During UAE’s batting, spinner Karthik Meiyappan dismissed Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and, skipper Dasun Shanaka to complete the first hat-trick of this tournament.
