“Rishabh Pant is far better”- Twitter reacts as ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ reverberates at the SCG after a silly mistake behind the stumps by Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni
During India’s second match in the T20 World Cup against the Netherlands on Thursday [October 27], an incident took place which reminded the fans of India’s most successful captain and wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni. Karthik had missed two stumping chances in that match.
Dinesh Karthik had missed one of those stumping chances which made spectators chant Dhoni’s name. Dhoni was undoubtedly one of the best wicket-keepers in the cricket fraternity; he was renowned for his lighting-quick reactions with the gloves behind the stumps.
The incident took place in the eighth over. Chasing a 180-run target, Dutch’s Bas de Leede was at strike, while spinner Axar Patel was the bowler. The latter tossed up a delivery outside the off stump; de Leede saw that and came down the track for a slog but failed to make a connection. The ball floated to Karthik who missed the line of the ball.
Right at that movement, fans at the stadium started chanting ‘Dhoni Dhoni’. The legendary wicketkeeper rarely missed stumping chances during his playing days.

Dinesh Karthik’s father names the person who changed his son’s life
In a conversation with The Indian Express, Dinesh Karthik‘s father Krishna Kumar, revealed the name of the person who changed his son’s life. The person is Abhishek Nayar, a domestic veteran and an IPL coach, who changed Karthik’s life.
Krishna revealed that Karthik used to get up at 2 am the night and ran over the hills. Karthik had hired his coach, trainer, and psychologist and they trained him to become a death batter. All the hard work has certainly paid off as Karthik has become an integral part of the playing XI of the Men in Blue that traveled to Australia for the T20 World Cup in 2022.
“Life changed when Abhishek came into his life,” Krishna Kumar told the Indian Express. “He (Nayar) made him get up at 2 am in the night and made him run over the hills. He will design practice sessions for him and he travelled like a tennis player. A power-hitting coach RX Murali was hired. There is a team that works and talks to him. A few times, I have been part of a session where Dinesh has told me to record my conversation with Nayar. And the level of talk is hard to explain for a common man,” he added.
