Sanju Samson is a curious case when it comes to squad selection. He is someone who has been in and out of the team since his ODI debut in 2021. But many Indian fans think the Indian management is doing an injustice to him by not selecting him in the squad. Former India pacer S.Sreesanth talked in length about the case, explaining his reasons why selectors didn’t choose him for ODI World Cup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the three-match ODI series. It infuriated a section of social media fans after not finding Samson’s name.

The management continues to choose Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the Kerala-born. Suryakumar still hasn’t shown progress in the 50-over format and picking him over Samson is bound to invite criticism. But Sreesanth doesn’t agree and questioned Samson’s inconsistency.

It is very easy to get sympathy from people, but what you need is appreciation which will come with consistent show for India. It is just a matter of time,” he told Sportskeeda.

S. Sreesanth says Sanju Samson doesn’t play according to pitch condition

The greats of the game like Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri highly rate Sanju Samson. However, they have advised the 28-year-old to show some patience and play according to the pitch. S. Sreesanth opined that Samson doesn’t listen to anyone.

He wants Samson to change his attitude and approach by reading the wicket and batting accordingly. Sreesanth further stated that he did not digest the fact that Samson was not getting regular chances. He believes Samson does get the chances but lacks consistency. The ex-Kerala cricketer then issued a stern warning to Samson, by pointing out the availability of two wicketkeepers, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul which also makes his selection for India matches very tough.
