How Mumbai Indians are still the unbeaten team is still a surprise. Whether they are loaded with world-class cricketers or not, they know how to groom their players. On Sunday (March 12), they maintained their unbeaten streak when they hammered Alyssa Healy-led UP Warriorz by eight wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Chasing the 160-run target, Mumbai openers, Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia gave a bright start by stitching 40 runs between them. Bhatia batted at a strike rate of 155.56 to score 42 runs from 27 balls, including eight fours and a six before Rajeshwari Gayakwad got rid of her in the seventh over when Bhatia’s mistimed her slog sweep to give a fine catch to Simran Shaikh.
Later, it was Nat Sciver and Harmanpreet Kaur’s show. Both shouldered the responsibility to steer the score past the target. Sciver missed her half-century by five runs. She batted at a strike rate of 145.16 to score 45 runs off 31 balls with the help of six boundaries and one maximum.
While Harmanpreet Kaur, the Mumbai Indians skipper, slammed her half-century and remained unbeaten on 53 off 33 balls (with nine boundaries and a six) at a strike rate of 160.61.

Earlier, Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath slammed their respective half-centuries to take UP to 159/6 in their 20 overs. They would have added a lot more runs but their plans were spoiled by Saikia Ishaque’s three scalps. Ishaque once again displayed terrific bowling by getting rid of the two dangerous batters in the 17th over and simultaneously turned the table.
