“Unbelievably clueless,” Netizens tear apart Delhi Capitals management for batting collapse against SRH

While it is not abnormal for a team to lose three wickets in an over, it was the intent and shot selection that was in question.

“Unbelievably clueless,” Netizens tear apart Delhi Capitals management for batting collapse against SRH

Delhi Capitals (DC) seem to be doing everything wrong in IPL 2023. While the franchise lost its regular captain, Rishabh Pant even before the tournament started, it is getting worse for DC with every passing game. The David Warner-led team lost five matches on the trot and opened their account with a win over KKR. While the fans expected it to be a turnaround for DC, it was not the case.

The Delhi-based franchise put on a poorer show against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their seventh game of the season. After opting to bat first, DC lost one of their openers in the very first over as Philip Salt fell prey to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, David Warner and Mitchell added some quick runs before Marsh was trapped LBW by T Natarajan.

Despite these two wickets, DC had a fairly good powerplay as they managed 49 runs. But what happened after left every DC fan baffled. The visitors lost three wickets in one over. While it is not abnormal for a team to lose three wickets in an over, it was the intent and shot selection that was in question. Fans could not comprehend the kind of shots played by the likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Aman Hakim Khan.

Axar Patel and Manish Pandey implement the rescue act

After these few minutes of clueless batting from DC, Axar Patel and Manish Pandey implemented the rescue act and saved their team from a worse collapse. The two batters rotated the strike with ease and targeted bowlers only when there was an opportunity. Manish and Axar stitched a half-century partnership to bring DC’s innings back on track.
