“It will cost WTC for India”- Unhappy Twitteratis slam Rahul Dravid as he backs KL Rahul despite consistent failures
In Rahul's last 11 Test innings, he has gone past 25 runs only once. His runs in those innings are- 50, 8, 12, 10, 22, 23, 10, 2, 20, 17, and 1.

KL Rahul with Rahul Dravid
Although it’s natural for the coaches to back their players, fans have had enough. India opener KL Rahul has failed consistently and his lean patch doesn’t seem to end. In the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Rahul managed 17 in the first innings and one in the second.
And as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has previously announced the squad for the first two matches only, fans were hoping to see Rahul’s omission from the list for the next two matches. They might include the in-form Shubman Gill in his place; he is consistently scoring runs for India and even produced a brilliant performance in the 2020-21 series in Australia.
But knowing that the management doesn’t leave KL Rahul from the XI, fans’ anger reached heights when head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma backed the Karnataka-born cricketer.
“I think he needs to trust his processes,” Dravid told the broadcasters after the match. “This is just a phase, he has been our most successful overseas openers. He’s got hundreds in South Africa and England, we’ll continue to back him.” Dravid further stated that he still believes Rahul has the class to come out of this.
When former India captain Virat Kohli was struggling to score runs, the management continued to back him despite constant criticism. It looks like they will do the same with Rahul also, knowing he once was one of the star performers for India. But as mentioned before, Dravid’s statement of backing KL Rahul did not go well with the fans, they started slamming the head coach.
Twitteratis slam Rahul Dravid for backing KL Rahul

Previously, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad tore apart KL Rahul for his being a “consistently inconsistent” batter. He blamed the management for choosing Rahul not because of his performance but due to “favouritism“. He cited the example of batsmen like Sarfaraz Khan who has been scoring consistently in the domestic circuit, to lash out at the management.
In Rahul’s last 11 Test innings, he has gone past 25 runs only once. His runs in those innings are- 50, 8, 12, 10, 22, 23, 10, 2, 20, 17, and 1.
And about the second Test, India won it without breaking a sweat by six wickets. Ravindra Jadeja’s match-winning seven-wicket haul restricted the visitors to just 113. Later, the Indian batters did the rest of the job to help India lead the four-match series 2-0.
