“Unlucky day for RR”- Delhi’s playoffs hunt continues as Mitchell Marsh and David Warner power them to victory vs RR
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh
With Mitchell Marsh and David Warner’s brilliant knocks, Delhi Capitals defeat Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets on Wednesday, May 11 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Chasing the target of 161, DC lost Srikar Bharat for a duck. But it was all chasing without losing wickets with the help of David Warner’s unbeaten 52 off 41. He smashed 5 fours and a six. David Warner also completed 400 runs in an IPL season for the 8th time.
But it was Warner’s compatriot Mitchell Marsh who scored a brilliant 89 off 62 balls with some powerful hitting of 7 sixes and 5 fours.
But in the 18th over, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a slower one, and it landed around leg. Marsh had gone for a big slog sweep, the ball gripped in the surface and there was also extra bounce. After hitting the top edge, Kuldeep Sen grabbed an easy catch at the short fine leg.
Mitchell Marsh won his second IPL Man Of The Match Award. He won his first way back in 2011 playing for another DC (Deccan Chargers).

RR’s not so good performance
Known as the team with the best spinners with Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, Rajasthan Royals had not much success with any department. because with the bat, when Jos Buttler couldn’t score runs, RR again failed to reach a competitive score. They must have missed Shimron Hetmyer who had gone back to attend the birth of his child.
But the scene was an unexpected one to see off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin score his maiden half-century in his T20 career. He was supported by Devdutt Padikkal on the other side.
Only Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult could pick one wicket each. During fielding even, a good fielder like Buttler failed to catch balls.
With win, Rajasthan is at the third place with 8 wins in 12 matches. While Delhi Capitals are occupying the fifth place with 6 wins in 12 matches.
