Urvashi Rautela faces flak for cheap gimmick on Rishabh Pant

Urvashi Rautela faces flak for cheap gimmick on Rishabh Pant

The love-hate relationship between Urvashi Rautela and cricket star Rishabh Pant refuses to die down. A week after the wicket-keeper batsman crawled away from the jaws of death and was first shifted to a hospital in Dehradun, social media poured love and affection for the Delhi Capitals hero. From glitterati to the biggest politicians, there were emotional and heartfelt messages posted for Pant’s speedy recovery. It also included messages from Team India through the official BCCI Twitter handle, where coach Rahul Dravid, Hardik Pandya and many more wished Pant a speedy recovery.

There has been intense speculation on Pant’s health, who was flown by an air ambulance to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. His treatment, arthroscopy, if necessary on knee and shoulder, rehab, will now take place in the well-known hospital for which the BCCI will be picking up the tab.
However, what has caught the eye, obviously, for the wrong reasons, is Urvashi Rautela posting a picture on Instagram of the hospital.

She has not named Pant, but it is alluding to the fact it relates to the man loved by billions who has been rendered horse de combat, following the accident. He was over-speeding from Delhi to Roorkee on December 30 when he lost control. The Mercedes was in high speed, hit barriers and then a huge wall before catching fire. Pant was lucky to escape as a driver and conductor from Haryana Roadways near the spot rushed him to the Dehradun hospital.

Urvashi Rautela should show maturity, not indulge in cheap publicity stunt

Source – DNA India

Six days ago, Urvashi had tweeted: “I pray for you and your family’s well-being.” The tweet received over six million views, even though she had not named Pant. By inference, social media construed it was meant for the star cricketer.

For those not familiar with Urvashi Rautela, she is a star in her own right. She is an actress, part of glitterati, 28 years old. One is not sure whether there was a serious relationship between her and Pant at any point of time, though the cricketer has denied it vehemently. In fact, last year, Urvashi had flown to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup. At that time, too, there was storm on social media. Story goes, Pant blocked her on social media tools!

What came as a cheap stunt on Friday was Urvashi Rautela using her Instagram handle to post a picture of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai. Reactions on social media have been sarcastic, nay sarcastic. If this was a cheap publicity stunt from Urvashi, it was in bad taste. Nobody does such stuff when a person is hurt, literally.

Even though Urvashi has used in some of her posts in the past “RP,” she said it was not used for Rishabh Pant. You could have taken that with a pinch of salt. Surely, the queen of social media is not posting for some other RP admitted in the same hospital today! Last year, Urvashi wanted social media addicts to believe RP was Ram Pothineni, a Telugu cine star!

Indian cricketers and glitterati are not alien to each other. Even before the age of social media, there have been romantic affairs from Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s days. Late Pataudi married Sharmila Tagore. Even legend SMG — Sunil Manohar Gavaskar’s name was linked to a few cine stars. Nothing was verified, though. In the 80s, cine star Sarika was spotted at cricket venues when Kapil Dev played.

There was denial from Kaps, who celebrates his birthday today. More recent, Virat Kohli married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. Just to jog the readers’ memory, way back in the 80s, Sir Viv Richards was in a relationship with Neena Gupta. They have a child, Masaba Gupta.

All this is well chronicled, but why Urvashi is so toxic, none knows. Heart burn or acidity? Was she spurned, or is there more to it than meets the eye? Cricket world wants to focus on Pant getting fit fully, not Urvashi, who is acting mean. This is nothing sort of harassment. Had a man been doing this, he would have been hauled over coals!
