In the match, Pant hit his first fifty of the tournament, taking 31 balls to score. His fifty, along with David Warner’s 52 and a 43 by Prithvi Shaw saw DC score 191. Pant’s side successfully defended the target, thanks to brilliant bowling performances by Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel

Despite the win, Pant was fined ₹12 lakh. He breached the IPL Code of Conduct by maintaining a slow over rate. As it was his first offense, this was the amount. Shubman Gill was the first captain to be charged this season, during his loss to CSK.

Pant’s DC will now face Kolkata Knight Riders on 3rd April. It will be played in Vizag, which serves as DC’s home till 20th April.
