USA Cricket announces dates, squads, venue for Women's Regional Series
Following the conclusion of the 2022 Intra-Regional Competition that was played over the last 5 weeks, USA Cricket is pleased to announce the four 14-player Regional teams, representing East, Central, Southwest, and West regions that will take part in the Sistar Mortgage Women’s Regional Series 2022.
The USA Cricket Women’s Selection Panel has chosen these 56 players based on their attitude, fitness, skill, and performance, and they will now go on to represent their Regional Teams and compete for places at the Sistar Mortgage Women’s National Championship 2022.
Following the Regionals, the Eastern and Western Teams will be selected to go head-to-head in the USA Women’s Senior National Championship, also to be held at the Moosa Stadium in Texas from August 1st to 3rd.
All of the players from the successful USA Women’s Under 19’s campaign at the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars T20 Championship in Trinidad are involved across the four Regional teams as the selectors back youth looking ahead to an exciting year for Women’s cricket with the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier slated for September.
USA Cricket Women & Girls Coordinator Julie Abbott commented, “We are delighted to be able to bring the Regionals together at the same time to Moosa Stadium over what will be a great week of cricket action for the best women and girls across the United States. The Sistar Mortgage Women’s Regionals will showcase competitive matches between top players in the USA representing their geographical regions, putting that extra bit of intensity and competition on all matches. We are looking forward to advancing the best players to the Nationals for the new Head Coach, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, to work with the team leading into the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier scheduled for September.”
