On 14th September, Sri Lanka knocked out Pakistan from the 2023 Asia Cup after beating them by 2 wickets. Thanks to knocks  by Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka’s heroics in the death, they ensured they had booked their spot in the finals of the tournament.

Venkatesh Prasad on X had praised one of the tailenders for sacrificing his wicket so that Charith Asalanka could get strike. On the 4th ball of the final over, Pramod Madushan swung his bat hoping for any connection but missed. Asalanka from the other end started running to get on strike while Madushan stayed on the batters end. He did that to ensure if the keeper somehow hit the stumps, Asalanka would not be run out.

R.Aswhin replied to Vankatesh’s tweet praising Madushan as well. Ashwin said these types of reactions you would only find after practicing and how it’s pretty common in tennis ball cricket.
