Virat Kohli beats BTS’ JungKook and V to emerge as most searched person on Google in Asia

Former India captain Virat Kohli surpassed K-Pop band BTS’ V and JungKook to emerge as the most searched person in Asia in 2023 on Google (the most popular search engine in the world) as per the latest Google Trends data. Kim Tae-hyung aka V used to top the list for the first half of 2023.

As per a report published by CricTracker, not just the BTS members, Kohli also surpassed Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif who was in the top-10 list of ‘Most Searched Asian Worldwide 2022’. Notably, Kohli is also the most followed personality on Instagram in Asia as well as the third-most followed sportsperson in the world after football greats Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Kohli achieved this last year and he also took to his Instagram to share how he was grateful for the millions of followers. Right now, the 34-year-old has around 259 million followers on the Meta-owned platform.

Virat Kohli slammed his 47th ODI century in Asia Cup

On Monday (September 11), Virat Kohli slammed his 47th ODI century during the 2023 Asia Cup. It came while facing arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Four stage at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

With this century, he inched closer to breaking Sachin Tendulkar‘s record for most ODI centuries. The Master Blaster has blasted 49 tons in the 50-over format and in all possibilities, Kohli will surpass him to top the list. He may reach the milestone this year during the ODI World Cup.

The Delhi-born batter will be seen next on the cricket field on Wednesday (September 27) during the third ODI between India and Australia. Rohit Sharma and Co. will be playing a three-match ODI series and Kohli and other important players are rested for the first two matches.
