On his first tour of Australia, Virat Kohli impressed a lot as he scored 300 runs in eight innings. He scored a century in the final match of the series as well, but many remember his antics during 2nd innings. After being abused by the crowd continuously, he showed his middle finger to them.
In an interview with Wisden cricket, he revealed the aftermath of the entire ordeal. When asked if there was one thing he had always regretted, it was the incident at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Kohli also narrated the interaction he had with match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

The match referee called me to his room the next day and I’m like, ‘What’s wrong?’. He said, ‘What happened at the boundary yesterday?’. I said, ‘Nothing, it was a bit of banter’. Then he threw the newspaper in front of me and there was this big image of me flicking on the front page and I said, ‘I’m so sorry, please don’t ban me!’. I got away with that one. He was a nice guy, he understood I was young and these things happen.Virat Kohli to Wisden
Kohli was fined 50% of his match fee for his reaction. He told Wisden that he wasn’t proud of his reaction but worked on himself and changed his ways.
Monty Panesar claims to beat India they need to play with Virat Kohli’s ego
Monty Pansear was with the England side that beat India in India in 2012. It was the last time India had lost a series at home. Ahead of the much awaited India-England Test series, Monty Panesar believes the best way to beat India is by playing with Virat Kohli’s ego.

Many players in the past have stated in the past that players should avoid sledging Kohli as that makes him more into the game, but Panesar claims Stokes and co. shouldn’t hold back. He claimed by reminding Kohli of the 2023 World Cup final and 2022 T20 World Cup semis, it would agitate him a great deal.
