Ex-Captain and star batsman, Virat Kohli, has not traveled with the Indian Cricket Team to Trivandrum for their 2nd warm up match. They will be facing Netherlands in the Greenfield Stadium on 3rd October.
Virat Kohli has returned back home to Mumbai due to a personal emergency, but so far there hasn’t been any confirmation by the Board of Control for Cricket in India if he would miss the match against Netherlands or not. Reports say he will be in Trivandrum by 3rd and will be playing in against the Flying Dutchmen.
In the past few days there were rumors being spread that Virat Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, is pregnant with their 2nd child and they would soon announce the pregnancy. According to many news outlets, she was spotted by the paparazzi at a maternity clinic, but she requested them not to share the news as she wanted to herself.
Indian Cricket Team to play 2nd warm up tie on 3rd October
India will face Netherlands in the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The last time the two nations faced each other was in the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup, which India won. Before that they had faced each other in the 2003 ICC ODI World Cup.
India goes into the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup as Asian Champions while Netherlands last played in the ICC ODI World Cup qualifiers, where they lost to Sri Lanka in the finals. They had beaten West Indies in the competition in a super over. The highlight of that match was Logan van Beek hitting Jason Holder for 30 runs in the super over.
India go into the quadrennial tournament as favorites, especially after winning the 2023 Asia Cup. Netherlands will be viewed as one of the weaker teams of the tournament, but will aim to cause some upsets like the one they did in 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. They had beaten South Africa, which caused them to be knocked out of the group stages of the tournament.
