As it is with the India-Pakistan rivalry, fans of the two countries try to show their team superior to the other. Also, there is always a comparison between the leading players from the two teams. Among many comparisons in world cricket, Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam is probably the most talked about.

While Kohli fans claim that the 34-year-old is way ahead of the Pakistan captain, Babar Azam’s fans claim that the batter will leave Kohli behind in the coming years. Meanwhile, the two batters pay no heed to these comparisons.

While Azam has openly accepted that he tries to imitate Kohli, the Indian stalwart also has no shame in admitting that Babar Azam is currently the best batter in the world. Kohli had heaped praise on the Pakistan cricketer during the 2022 Asia Cup saying he is the best batter in the world.

The former India captain while talking about his first meeting with Babar Azam, hailed the batter for his consistency. Kohli also praised Babar Azam for his humble attitude. “The first interaction I had with him [Babar] was during the 2019 [ODI] World Cup after the game in Manchester. I’ve known Imad [Wasim] since the Under-19 World Cup, and he said Babar wanted to have a chat,” Kohli said to Star Sports.

“We sat down and spoke about the game. I saw a lot of regard and respect from him from day one, and that hasn’t changed,” Kohli said. “Regardless of the fact he’s probably the top batsman in the world across formats, and rightly so. Performs so consistently and I’ve always enjoyed watching him play.”
