India batter Virat Kohli hit his 48th century in ODIs in the World Cup match against Bangladesh and ensured India their fourth win on Thursday (October 19) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. India hammered Bangladesh by seven wickets to secure their fourth back-to-back win in the tournament.

Kohli looked desperate to score his century, and he waited to reach his 48th ODI ton. Had India been in a tough position, Kohli wouldn’t have gone for his milestone, but given that India needed just a couple of runs with a lot of balls left, instead of going for singles and doubles, he smashed a six to complete his ton. He scored an unbeaten 103 runs from 97 balls with six fours and four sixes.

Before him, Shubman Gill had scored his first fifty of the tournament (53 off 55). Captain Rohit Sharma missed his fifty by two runs.

KL Rahul, who scored 34 runs from the same number of balls acted as a supporter to help Kohli reach the three-figure mark. He and the 34-year-old remained unbeaten. After the match, Kohli apologized to Ravindra Jadeja for receiving the Player of the Match award.

Why did Virat Kohli apologize to Ravindra Jadeja?

Ravindra Jadeja, while fielding, grabbed a stunning catch to dismiss Mushfikur Rahim and made a gesture to be given the medal for the best fielding. During the mid-innings break, he revealed that the gesture was for the fielding coach so that he would get the award for the catch. Because of Jadeja’s hilarious gesture, Virat Kohli, at the post-match presentation, said he felt sorry for stealing the award from Sir Jadeja.
