In the 2012 Asia Cup, India were chasing a huge score of 330. Thanks to centuries by Mohammed Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed. In the 2nd ball of the innings, Hafeez had caught Gautam Gambhir in front of the stumps and the umpire declared him out leg before wicket. At No. 3 came in 22-year-old Virat Kohli and what ensued was one of the greatest ODI innings of all time. Kohli scored 183 runs off 148 balls, hitting 22 fours and one six. 

Talking about the innings in the show ‘Follow the Blues’, Kohli said, “I had never thought that I would score so many runs in an innings and that too while chasing – 183. That day I was in a different zone naturally. I had not planned anything and was just playing instinctively. As the match progressed, my zone became stronger.”

Kohli said he was shocked he scored so many runs. He said he knew he could score centuries, but scoring 183, that too against Pakistan, was huge for him.

Virat and India will travel to Sri Lanka to participate in the Asia Cup. The tournament will run for two and a half weeks. After the tournament, India will host Australia for a three-match ODI series. Just a few days later, India will host 9 other nations for the ICC ODI World Cup.
