Pradeep Sangwan has played with former India captain Virat Kohli in U-19 matches. He revealed that the Royal Challengers Bangalore star used to get very emotional when he failed to score runs in matches.

In a recent interview, Sangwan recalled the time when he shared the dressing room with Virat Kohli and that a prank made the India great cry in his room alone without sleeping during U-17 days. Their coach had pranked Kohli when he scored less in a couple of matches.

“We were playing a U-17 match in Patiala. Virat had not good outings in last couple of matches and our coach Hari Choudhary decided to prank him. Virat was the main player in our team but when coach announced the 13 players for the match, he didn’t pick Virat.” Virat was hurt by this and started crying. It was only after the coach told him about the prank, that Kohli slept later.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes that Virat Kohli has established such a high standard for himself that a half-century by him is being overlooked by people. But his form has declined over the past few months and this IPL 2022 was a forgettable season for him.

“The ones who understand the game know that Kohli is an institution in himself. The way he has performed and carved himself into a role model as an athlete, as a batter, and as a captain, he has an exemplary stature,” Butt said on his official YouTube channel.

“Virat has set such high standards for himself that fifties in eight of his last 14 matches went unnoticed. People think that he isn’t in form because he got into the habit of scoring centuries. He will be back in form for the good of cricket,” he added.
