Virender Sehwag is an Indian legend. His fearless, aggressive approach while opening was revolutionary and was termed as one of the scariest batters to bowl to. Towards the end of his career, his attacking approach saw a decline and he was eventually dropped from the Indian team.

After being dropped, Virender Sehwag continued to play in the IPL, representing Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab. He had an incredible season in 2014, where he scored 455 runs in 17 innings.

Unfortunately there was a huge drop in form the next season, where he scored 99 runs in 8 innings. He was eventually dropped from the team and he retired from the sport. While commentating during the 2024 IPL, he blamed KXIP and the people in the team for his drop in form.

When I was in Punjab, my strike rate fell. They say that you start to behave like your company. This was the situation. We barely won or played well and my game got worse.

Since retiring from the sport, Sehwag continued playing cricket. He often participates in leagues for retired international players, recently participating in the Road Safety World Series. He was also KXIP’s director from 2016 to 2018.

When Mohammed Siraj broke into the IPL, he was regularly mocked by fans. He had become somewhat of a run machine, with batters often taking him to the cleaners. Since his Test debut in 2020, he worked harder and became one of the best pacers in the league. Virender Sehwag spoke about how much Siraj improved, praising the hard work he put in.

We have seen Siraj be indisciplined with his line and length in the past but that's being controlled as he gains experience. I would be against Siraj bowling in the final four overs but it felt good to see him bowl with discipline and pace in the last four overs.

So far, Siraj has picked up two wickets in the ongoing IPL. He was expensive in the first match, giving away 38 runs to Chennai Super Kings, but bowled an impressive spell against Punjab Kings, with figures of 2/16.
