Ruturaj Gaikwad was recently appointed as the new captain of the Chennai Super Kings. He was handed the role by MS Dhoni, who decided to step down before the start of the 2024 Indian Premier League.
In his first match as captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad led the team to victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 IPL opener. During the match, the JioCinema camera kept panning to MS Dhoni, which didn’t impress Virender Sehwag. The former Indian captain, who was commentating for JioCinema’s Haryanvi coverage, called out the broadcasters for not paying attention to Gaikwad the captain.

Bhai Ruturaj ka bhi chahera dekha do ek do baar, vo bhi captain hai sirf Dhoni ka hi chahera dekha raha hai. (Please show Ruturaj Gaikwad’s face, he is the captain. Stop showing Dhoni’s face)Virender Sehwag on JioCinema
Many commentators praised Gaikwad on his IPL captaincy debut. They praised his tactical awareness and bowling changes, which saw a short batting collapse during the powerplay.
Did Virender Sehwag call Orry a derogatory term on live air?
Social media personality and socialite Orhan Awatramani, also known as Orry, was recently invited to the commentary team of JioCinema. During the coverage, the anchor tried asking Orry to show off his favorite shot.

The influencer refused, saying the suit he was wearing couldn’t allow him to play any shots. When given to Sehwag, he said a statement that left many thinking he was making a homophobic remark.
Main maara toh inhe bahar hi bhejunga (If I play it, he will be out of here.)Virender Sehwag on JioCinema
While fans believed it was an insult on Orry, the celebrity couldn’t stop laughing when he heard the joke. Orry currently is in the JioCinema team to cover the 2024 Indian Premier League, but fans are not happy with his inclusion.
