Virender Sehwag and fake Pak Bean

As Zimbabwe registered a thrilling one-run victory against Pakistan on Thursday [October 27] at the Optus Stadium in Perth, memes started flooding across Twitter on “Pak Bean revenge”. But the trend started ahead of the match when fans from both countries engaged in a hilarious banter on an issue that is not at all related to cricket.

The story related to fake Pak Mr Bean started when Pakistan Cricket Board shared a couple of pictures on their official Twitter handle where Pakistani players could be seen training hard for their upcoming clash against Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwean fan named Ngugi Chasura replied to the tweet and that started all the trend.

He wrote: “As Zimbabweans we wont forgive you…you once gave us that Fraud Pak Bean instead of Mr Bean Rowan ..we will settle the matter tomorrow just pray the rains will save you…#ZIMVSPAK.”

Another user asked what happened then Chasura replied: “They gave us Pak Bean instead of Mr Bean on one of our local events called agriculture show.” He then showed the picture of the fake Pak Bean in another tweet.

Amidst all the jokes, fake Pak Bean went viral on social media. When Zimbabwe thrashed Pakistan by one run, former India opener Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to troll the Men in Green by replying to Ngugu Chasura’s first post.

Sehwag wrote: “Bhai kya badla le liya teri team ne Fraud Pak Ben ka. Great revenge #ZIMvPAK. (Brother what a revenge your team has taken against the Fraud Pak Bean.)

Also, Sehwag uploaded two pictures (of real Mr Bean and fake Pak Bean) in another tweet and wrote: “Pic 1- Pakistan After 20 overs of Zimbabwe batting Pic 2- Pakistan after 20 overs of their batting.”

Coming to the match, Zimbabwe put on 130/8 in their 20 overs and restricted their opponents to just 129/8. Shan Masood was the top scorer with 38-ball 44 runs but that wasn’t enough for the Men in Green as they failed to score three runs needed off the last ball of the innings to win the match.

Sikandar Raza was adjudged the Player of the Match following his 3 scalps for 25 runs. Also, he was the one to run out Shaheen Afridi to guide his team to victory.
