MS Dhoni‘s 2011 World Cup-winning six against Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekara is still fresh in everyone’s mind. Team India defeated the island nation in the final to lift the World Cup after 28 years at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. And as India celebrated the 12th anniversary of the ODI World Cup, the MCA president has confirmed that a seat at the Wankhede Stadium will be named after the World Cup-winning captain.

The interesting part of the news is that the Wankhede has chosen the exact spot where Dhoni’s iconic six landed. “The MCA took a decision today (Monday) to name a seat inside the stadium after MS Dhoni,” Amol Kale told the Indian Express.

The spot will be where his match-winning six landed against Sri Lanka in the final of the 2011 World Cup. We will be requesting MS Dhoni to come to the stadium for the inauguration where he will also be presented with a memento,” Kale added.

Notably, the Wankhede has stands named after great Indian players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Vijay Merchants. There are also gates that are named after Vinoo Mankad and Polly Umrigar.

This is not the first time MS Dhoni revealed his best moment of the World Cup. In previous interviews, he has been asked the same question and has given the same answer. For him, the goosebump moment was when spectators of the Wankhede Stadium started singing the Vande Mataram.

The best feeling was 15-20 minutes (before the winning moment),” said Dhoni, as quoted as saying by ICC.

And the stadium started to sing Vande Mataram. The atmosphere I feel is very difficult to recreate- maybe in this [upcoming 2023] World Cup, there is a similar scenario, once the stadium is, the fans start contributing,” Dhoni added.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is currently captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). CSK have won their first match against Gujarat Titans but defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs in their second match. The Yellow Army will be locking horns with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their next assignment on Saturday (April 8) at the Wankhede Stadium.
