Virat Kohli, in a recent interview on Star Sports, revealed the truth behind his nickname ‘Cheeku’. Kohli said that this name was not given to him by former India captain MS Dhoni but his state head coach.

Kohli said that because he had chubby cheeks, and his ears looked bigger when he had short hair back then, his state head coach called him Cheeku, the name of a comic character from India’s famous children’s magazine Champak. But when Dhoni started using the name, it became quite popular, with many thinking that it was the World Cup-winning captain who called Kohli Cheeku first.
