India A star Riyan Parag always attracts criticism for his flop shows for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he helped shift the momentum toward India’s favor when he scalped two back-to-back wickets for India A against Pakistan A in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Sunday (July 23) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

After winning the toss, India A captain Yash Dhull chose to bowl first. Pakistan A opening batters Saim Ayub (59 off 51) and Sahibzada Farhan (65 off 62) stitched a 121-run stand between them before Manav Suthar’s tossed-up delivery in the 18th over broke finally broke the partnership by dismissing Ayub.

After Ayub’s departure, it was Farhan’s turn to head back toward the dugout after Dhull ran him out with Dhruv Jurel removing the bails. Pakistan A seemed to have going toward another partnership if it wasn’t for Parag’s brilliant effort in the 28th over.

On the first ball of the 28th over, Parag delivered it to Omair Yousuf which the latter banged it straight, toward the bowler. Parag pulled off the caught and bowled but was unsure if he grabbed it before it bounced on the ground.

The on-field umpire went upstairs for the third umpire’s decision and Yousuf was given out. On the next ball, Parag sent the new batter Qasim Akram to pack with a fuller-length delivery, which Qasim tried to pull but ended up giving a catch to Harshit Rana.
