WATCH: Andre Russell hits a hattrick of sixes against Mukesh Kumar in DC vs KKR

Delhi Capitals (DC) hosted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Thursday. The David Warner-led team who have been winless so far this season started well against KKR as they reduced the Nitish Rana-led team to 64/5 in 10.2 overs. The hosts further tightened their grip as DC claimed three more wickets in the next five overs. However, Andre Russell’s hat trick of Sixes dented DC’s plan to a certain extent.

The KKR all-rounder hit Mukesh Kumar for three massive sixes in the last over to propel KKR to a decent total. Russell finished the inning with an unbeaten 38 which he scored 31 balls.

All three sixes came on the on-side. While the first one was hit over long-on, the second one got even more elevation and landed deep into the stands over midwicket. The third six was hit over the square leg boundary as Mukesh Kumar strayed down the leg side. These three sixes from Russell helped KKR finish at 127/10. Apart from this ha trick of sixes, Russell also smashed a 109-metres six.

DC finally get a win in IPL 2023!

After restricting KKR to a paltry total, DC batters put on a decent performance too as they chased down the target with ease. Captain David Warner starred for the hosts as he hit a 41-ball 57. However, other batters struggled against the KKR spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, and Nitish Rana. All three bowlers bagged two wickets each to put DC off-road occasionally.
