Former South Africa paceman Dale Steyn chose a list of five bowers to watch out for in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. However, his list did not have India’s Jasprit Bumrah or Australia’s Mitchell Starc (who bagged a hat trick in a warm-up match against the Netherlands).
Steyn first picked up Mohammed Siraj‘s name who has done wonders for the side in the absence of Bumrah. He recently bagged six wickets in the final of the 2023 Asia Cup to help India bundle out Sri Lanka for a mere 50 runs.
Next on the list was Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi who has picked up 86 wickets in 44 ODIs. Also, it will be interesting to watch him face India skipper Rohit Sharma.
South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is third on the list. Rabada experienced a slump in recent times but once he gets going, he becomes one of the toughest pacers to face.
After Rabada, New Zealand’s Trent Boult and England’s Mark Wood complete the list. While Boult is famous for giving breakthroughs in the Powerplay, Wood’s strength is his pace. He can consistently bowl at 150 kph.

Dale Steyn wants South Africa to play ODI World Cup final
South Africa appeared in their first ODI World Cup in 1992 but were never crowned as champions. In the 2019 edition, they ended up in the seventh position on the points table after just three wins from nine matches.
South Africa will play their first match in the World Cup on the back of a 3-2 ODI series victory against Australia. The team looks solid and the players’ experience in India while playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) will prove to be an advantage for the side, as per Dale Steyn. He expressed how he wants to see the Proteas shine in the prestigious tournament.
“It’s a tough one, you know my heart wants to go with South Africa making the final. I would love them to make the final, their team, a lot of their players play in the IPL, they play in India regularly,” Steyn told Star Sports.
