WATCH: Deja Vu strikes again for PAK; Shadab Khan awfully collides with Asif Ali in a drop catch

Shadab Khan collides with Asif Ali
There was a school boy error between Shadab Khan and Asif Ali while attempting Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s catch when Sri Lanka and Pakistan had locked horns on Sunday, September 11 at the Dubai International Stadium. While both had their eyes glued to the approaching ball, they didn’t see each other, which resulted in a nasty collision and neither of them could catch the ball.
The incident happened in the 19th over of Sri Lanka’s innings bowled by Mohammad Hasnain where he bowled an off-cutter and Rajapaksa tried to smash it over deep mid-wicket. The ball looked to be Ali’s catch but Shadab collided with him, which resulted in the ball going for a six. Shadab was injured after the collision as he could be seen with the medical team.

Sri Lanka vs Pakistan match recap

Meanwhile, Rajapaksa was the architect in chief behind building Sri Lanka’s innings when half of the players had already headed towards the dressing room even before reaching the three-digit mark. His knock of 45-ball 71 (six fours and three sixes) and Wanindu Hasaranga’s 21-ball 36 added a quick 58 runs when the Lankan’s score read 58/5.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga were the stars behind Sri Lanka’s sixth Asia Cup title. Hasaranga also shone with the ball, scalping three wickets in a single over, helping Sri Lanka turn the table completely in their favour.
While Pakistan batters had got off to a flying start, pacer Pramod Madhusan broke their back by sending back three the top-order batters. No batters from the middle-order, except for Iftikar Ahmed’s 32 off 31, couldn reach double-digit mark. Hasaranga dismissed Mohammad Rizwan (55 runs off 49 balls) in the 17th over and in the same over, sent back other two batters.
Good bowling and tight fielding ensured Sri Lanka their sixth Asia Cup title by restricting Pakistan to 147 and winning the match by 23 runs.
