Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters looked in great touch against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday (10 April) as Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell scored half-centuries. While Kohli provided the early flair, scoring 61 off just 44 balls, du Plessis took his time before unleashing some outstanding shots. Among many eye-catching shots was also the longest six of IPL 2023 so far.

As Ravi Bishnoi bowled one on the shorter side of the pitch, du Plessis went deep into his crease and timed the pull over long-on to perfection. Such was the power and timing behind the shot that the ball flew almost out of the stadium. The replays then confirmed that the ball travelled 115 meters, the longest of IPL 2023 so far.

Glenn Maxwell, who was at the non-striker’s end looked astounded at this shot from du Plessis.

Glenn Maxwell makes it count

While du Plessis was unleashing the big shots from the one end, Glenn Maxwell too came to the party and thrashed the LSG bowlers left, right, and centre. The Australian all-rounder scored a 29-ball 59 before getting cleaned up by Mark Wood. Maxwell hit six gigantic sixes during his stay at the crease.

On the back of these three half-centuries from their top three, RCB posted a massive total on the board, 212/2 in their designated 20 overs. While Kohli and Maxwell scored 61 and 59, du Plessis remained not out on 79.

Meanwhile, for LSG, Amit Mishra and Mark Wood were the two bowlers to claim a wicket. Jaydev Unadkat and Avesh Khan were the most expensive bowlers for LSG with economy rates of 13.50 and 13.20 respectively.
