WATCH: Fans at Barabati Stadium sing “Maa Tujhe Salaam” after IND vs SA 2nd T20I
Barabati Stadium
Just like the 1st T20I, the 2nd also didn’t go in the host’s favour. Heinrich Klaasen, who replaced regular opener Quinton de Kock, played a knock of 81 off 46 balls to help South Africa win by four wickets against India. India was asked to bat first; were bamboozled by the Proteas bowlers and India could only manage 149/6 in 20 overs.
It was an easy target for South Africa since they chased a huge 212 in the first T20I. Even after Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept India in the hunt with his 4-13, India failed to defend the paltry target.
A good start from Bhuvneshwar Kumar raised India’s hope because of South Africa’s early wickets. But Klaasen stood firm at the other end. Even though South Africa ensured 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack witnessed a beautiful moment. Because the fans there lit up their flashlights and sang “Maa Tujhe Salaam” and “Vande Mataram”, which created goosebump moment.

India has a lot of issues to fix
In the first T20I, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya helped India reach 212 runs but the partnership between Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller ensured their first win. David Miller won the Player of the Match. That match was also India’s first defeat after 12 consecutive T20I win.
Except for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and in absence of veterans like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, Indian bowlers have failed to make much impact. India has a lot of issues to fix ahead of the third T20I. Also captain Rishabh Pant has to be proactive as a leader. The third T20I will be played in Vishakhapatnam on June 14.
