Australian all-rounder, Grace Harris, was batting for her side Brisbane Heat in their 2nd match of the Women’s Big Bash League on 22nd October. She was on 64 runs in the 14th over. On the stump mic, it was audible that she said she needed a new bat.

Just seconds later she said, “Stuff it, I’ll hit it anyways.” Perth Scorchers pacer, Piepa Cleary, bowled the ball a bit on the off side to which Harris smacked down the ground. The bat she was using broke into two pieces, with the blade flying away to the right of the non-striker. Meanwhile, the ball traveled 72 meters, flying above long-off’s head for a six.

Harris replaced her bat and the next ball hit another six, this time the ball traveling 87 meters. She ended up with the score of 136 as the Brisbane Heat scored 229 runs for 7 wickets, the 2nd highest total in the WBBL

Talking to the media after her knock, Harris admitted she felt the bat’s handle was loose before the match began. She claimed that’s when the bat is at its best so she decided to bat with it. Harris thought it would last the match, but heard a click the ball before she hit the six. She thought it hadn’t cracked yet and continued to bat with it, but the very next ball the bat finally broke.
