This wasn’t the first time fans witnessed Hanuma Vihari’s courageous knock. In the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney, the 29-year-old played one of his best innings.

After the dismissal of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who scored 97 runs, India found themselves in a terrible situation. Ravindra Jadeja was already got injured, and Vihari too sustained a hamstring tear.

But still, he batted, scoring an unbeaten 23 off 161 and playing 254 balls with Ravichandran Ashwin (39* off 128) to draw the third Test match. This draw was crucial as India would later win the historic fourth Test at The Gabba to bring the Trophy home.
