Chennai Super Kings lost their last match of the season by a defeat from Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets on Friday, May 20 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It was with Ravichandran Ashwin’s quick cameo that helped the Men in Pink come out victorius against the Men in Yellow. Remaining unbeaten Ashwin roared while celebrating Rajasthan’s victory.

Meanwhile, CSK had opted to bat first and were quite good until the end of the powerplay. It was with Moeen Ali’s excellent 93 runs off 57 balls that CSK could score just 150 runs. MS Dhoni was the second highest run-scorer for CSK in this match with 26 runs off 28 balls.

RR responded with Jos Buttler failing yet again for just 2 runs. But his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal played a good knock of 59 off 44 balls by smashing 8 fours and a six. But in the 15th over, Prashant Solanki sent back to the dug-out.

Sanju Samson departed after scoring 15 off 20 balls while Devdutt Padikkal scored 3 runs off 9 balls. Then Ravichandran Ashwin came and showed everyone of batting abilities in T20. He smashed an unbeaten 40 runs in just 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes with a brilliant strike rate of 173.91. Shimron Hetmyer, who appeared after a while in RR camp scored 6 runs off 7 balls while Riyan Parag had played 10 balls to score the same run.

Ravichandran Ashwin won the Man of the Match award and said in the post-match presentation: “Feels like a million dollars. It was important that we won the game tonight. That’s quite a good finish to the group stage games. The communication was pretty clear before the tournament. I had to work on a lot of stuff. The team management was clear with my position. I know what my role is. I have to make the batsmen take risks.

“I have always believed I understand the game well. I am quite innovative, they have understood me well. I want to play my A game. I am glad to make it to the playoffs and super pleased. I just brought out the David Warner inside me.”
