India had won the toss and opted to bowl first. The opener batters just couldn’t go past single-digit scores as five of them got out pretty quickly, with full credit goes to the Indian bowlers.

Deepak Chahar first gave the breakthough, and scalped three wickets. Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel too picked up three wickets respectively.

Even though, Zimbabwe’s top order collapsed quickly, the tailenders showed resistance and stretched their innings to 189. Zimbabwe skipper Regis Chakabva scored 35 runs off 51 balls which came with four boundaries while Richard Ngarava scored 34 runs from 42 balls that included three fours and a six. Brad Evans remained unbeaten and after contributing a quick 33 runs off 29 balls with three fours and a six he took Zimbabwe’s innings to 189 in 40.3 overs.

India responded comfortably without losing a wicket. Opener Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill stitched a 192-run partnerhip between them. Dhawan scored 81 runs off 113 balls which included nine boundaries while Gill played a knock of 82 runs off 72 balls including 10 fours and a six.

With their scores, Men in Blue chased down the target in 30.1 overs. Dhawan had completed his 6500-run milestone while his partnership with Gill is also the second highest in ODI cricket for the first wicket for India.
