Virat Kohli is going through a rough patch and much was expected him in the 2nd innings of India vs England at Edgbaston on July 3. But the former India skipper departed after 20 runs off 40 balls.
During his stay at the crease, he played some magnificent stroke and smashed four boundaries. He was all set for a big knock until an over from England skipper Ben Stokes.
Stokes came up with a special delivery and made Kohli surprised by the bounce. Kohli ended up edging the ball. Not only Kohli but wicket-keeper Sam Billings also got surprised because of the bounce and he droped the ball. But Joe Root had the presence of mind that time, he didn’t let the opportunity drop. He caught the ball when it rebounded after hitting Billings’ gloves. This catch ended Kohli’s stay in the middle .

Although he had returned to form during the practice match against Leicestershire, he couldn’t reproduce the same against England. This innings was another below-par return for the 33-year-old. Kohli hasn’t scored a ton since November 2019. He has batted over 100 times without a single century in any format.
India vs England match so far

After Kohli’s wicket, India’s score read 75/3. Rishabh Pant joined Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle and they have stayed for a 50-run partnership.
On Day 3, India finished the day with the score 123/3. But they already have a lead of 257 runs and has the upper hand. India is looking to bat more than one session and would declare the innings on Day 4. India has the lead of 2-1 over England. This Test is the rescheduled fifth Test which got postponed in 2021 following a Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp.
