WATCH: Jos Buttler’s one-handed brilliance leads to Dinesh Karthik’s run out
Jos Buttler
England captain Jos Buttler’s one-handed glovework helped to run out Indian batter Dinesh Karthik in the second T20I on Saturday, July 9 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. It was also the sixth wicket in the Indian innings.
England had won the toss and opted to bowl first. India started well with an aggressive knock from Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. But after a flurry of wickets saw Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja hung on for a while to steady the innings. But that didn’t help because of Jos Buttler.
The partnership was broken in the 16th over when Jos Buttler caught a diving Karthik short of his crease. This happened in Liam Livingstone’s delivery when Jadeja slashed it towards the sweeper cover and the two batters decided to run, but they also had decided for a risky third run.
England fielder Harry Brook had thrown the ball accurately which Buttler collected and broke down the stumps. Karthik was in the air diving but he was short of the crease.

England debutant Richard Gleeson stuns India batters
England’s debutant pacer Richard Gleeson scalped three wickets and conceded only 15 runs in four overs, including a maiden. This made India slip after a comfortable start. Gleeson had dismissed Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli.
But this didn’t scare India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as he kept on smashing runs. Finally, he scored 46 runs off just 29 balls that helped India’s score reach a respectable 170/8.
English batters failed to score that much runs and eventually got bundle out on 121. Bhuveshwar Kumar scalped three wickets while Jasprit Bumrh and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets. Hardik Pandya and Harshal Patel scalped one wicket each.
