India are currently playing against Australia in the decider of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday (March 22) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After winning the toss, Australia’s stand-in skipper Steve Smith chose to bat first.
For the first 10 overs, it looked as if Australia might end up putting a 300-plus score on the scoreboard. But the duo of Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav struck with the balls to bring India back to the game. However, one of Kuldeep’s deliveries to Alex Carey, in the 39th over, has been doing rounds on the internet.
Watch the video below:
Carey wanted to defend it but the ball, delivered at 82.6 kph, took a sharp turn and without touching the bat, it smashed into the stumps to the shock of the Aussie. He departed after a well-made 38 runs from 46 balls (with two fours and a six), and in the process, Australia lost their seventh wicket. He was also Australia’s second-highest scorer in the match after Mitchell Marsh’s 47.
Alex Carey has a terrible record against Kuldeep Yadav
Against Kuldeep Yadav, Alex Carey has scored 61 runs from 63 balls but has become his victim five times. The Aussie has just a 12.2 average against the Indian spinner.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav scalped three wickets during the match. Prior to Carey, he got rid of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne. Kuldeep finished his full quota of overs by conceding 56 runs, including a maiden over, at an economy rate of 5.60.
Before Kuldeep’s spin magic, it was all-rounder Hardik Pandya who spoiled Australia’s top order. He dismissed the likes of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith to help India get the upper hand.
Australia could put on 269 on the scoreboard. India have started their run-chase and have so far reached 137/2. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are at the crease playing at 40* and 28* respectively.
