During the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the latter’s fielder Mitchell Santner took a spectacular catch to dismiss RR skipper Sanju Samson on Thursday, May 20 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

CSK had set a target of 151 despite Moeen Ali’s excellent 93 runs. RR walked out with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler and the latter once again failed to score. Buttler could score only 2 runs off 5 balls while Jaiswal has just made his half-century; but got dismissed for 59 off 44 balls with 8 fours and a six.

After Buttler entered RR skipper Sanju Samson on the field. He smashed two fours and scored 15 in 20 balls before Mitchell Santner stunned him with a caught and bowl. This happened in the 9th over when Mitchell Santner bowled a full delivery and Samson went deep in his crease and smashed it straight. But the ball went straight towards the bowler with great power. However, with Mitchell Santner’s great presence of mind made the bowler grab a spectacular catch.

At the time when this article is written, RR have scored 104 runs in 14.5 overs and they need 47 runs in 31 balls. At the crease are batsmen Ravichandran Ashwin and Shimron Hetmyer. Hetmyer just entered the field and has played only 2 balls while Ravichandran Ashwin has scored 14 runs off 12 balls with a six so far.

While previewing the CSK vs RR match, cricket commentator Aakash Chopra expressed his dipleasure on Sanju Samson’s approach to score runs. He said: “Last time, he batted at this venue, he was trying to hit every ball for 4. It doesn’t work that way and that’s the problem. If he tries to hit every ball for four or six, he is bound to get out. He needs to give himself some time.”

“When Hetmyer is available, Samson doesn’t have to think about his batting order. He came in at No. 5 once instead of No. 3 (when Hetmyer was unavailable),” he added.
