Pakistan had put up a good target thanks to a century by Mohammad Rizwan and half centuries by Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel, but unfortunately the bowlers couldn’t contribute as New Zealand chased down the target with ease. The Kiwis scored at a run rate of 7.93.

Kane Williamson also batted after almost 6 months, after he suffered a freak injury in the 2023 IPL opener, where he played for Gujarat Titans. He scored a half century in 54 balls before retiring. He said it was great to finally play in a match and that his knee had held up well as he batted. He won’t play in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup opener, where England will play New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 5th October.
