It is no secret how Mohammed Shami is loved by every Indian fan. His recent exploits in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup has increased his stocks, with him now being in the bracket of some of the best players of the generation. As he nurses an injury he had after the World Cup, he organized a meet and greet for his fans in his farmhouse.
He posted a video of this event on his Instagram showing many people forming a line outside his gate. After being frisked by security, they entered the gate, where Shami met fans and took selfies with them.
Although he plays for Bengal, he lives in the city of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. After being rejected as a youngster, he shifted to Kolkata where he played out his career. After consistent performances in the domestic circuit, he made his debut for India.
Mohammed Shami begins training
Currently Mohammed Shami is still in India as he is recovering from an ankle injury. The injury developed off-field and he visited a specialist in Mumbai to treat it as well. Currently his traveling to South Africa isn’t confirmed yet as he isn’t fully fit.
Shami has started training though, with the bowler working on his batting in his farmhouse. He uploaded a video of him facing spinners on a pitch in his farmhouse. He faced a leg-spinner and a left arm off spinner, where he practiced his drives and defense.
With over 2 weeks left, Shami is in a race to reach full fitness to play the Boxing Day Test. If he doesn’t make it to South Africa, India will have to play Mukesh Kumar or give a debut to Prasidh Krishna, as they are the only other pacers in the Indian squad.
