Yash Dubey
Madhya Pradesh’ opening batter Yash Dubey did late singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s signature step after scoring his century in Ranji Trophy finals against Mumbai on Friday, June 24 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Yesterday, Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan also produced the same celebration step after his century.
Mumbai had won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted a total of 374 runs in the first innings. Mumbai reached this score with the help of their middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan’s 134-run knock from 243 balls. While celebrating, a very emotional Sarfaraz Khan paid his tribute to Sidhu Moose Wala. He slapped his thigh and pointed his finger upward. He later confirmed that it was his tribute to the late Punjab singer.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of Yash Dubey’s celebration, watch below:

Yash Dubey also does KL Rahul’s celebration
The music icon was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village in Mansa, Punjab on May 29. Sarfaraz mentioned while speaking after the end of second day’s play that he “loves his songs”.
“This was for Sidhu Moosewala. I love his songs, and mostly me and Hardik Tamore (Mumbai’s wicketkeeper) listen to his songs. I did a similar kind of celebration during an earlier match also (in his memory), but then, Hotstar didn’t show it. I had decided, once I score another hundred, I would repeat the celebration,” he had said on Thursday.
The next day, that is today, MP opener Dubey also repeated Sarfaraz’s gesture after his hundred. He reached his century on the third ball of the 75th over bowled by Tanush Kotian. It was also his third century of the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season. But before doing the Sidhu Moose Waala’s signature step, he first celebrated with KL Rahul‘s celebration with the fingers in both ears and then performed Moose Wala’s step.
