On 19th November India lost their 2nd ODI World Cup final against Australia. After posting only 240 runs in the first innings, India failed to defend the score as Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne chased down the score with ease.
In a new video that has just surfaced on the internet, it showed Virat Kohli’s reaction to losing the match. As Glenn Maxwell hit the finishing runs, the entire Australian team ran into the ground to celebrate. Watching the Aussies celebrate their triumph, Kohli walked to one of the stumps and hit it twice with his cap.
Kohli had a stellar 2023 ODI World Cup. He became the first batter to score 700+ runs in a single World Cup. He had scored 3 centuries, which made him the batter with the most ODI tons. He won Player of the Tournament for his efforts, his first in the ODI World Cup.
Nasser Hussain believes Virat Kohli is in a good space mentally
Virat Kohli had struggled with poor form after the Covid-19 pandemic. He failed to score a century for 30+ months, averaged below 40 every year and failed to score runs in general. But after the 2022 Asia Cup, there has been a resurgence of the Indian legend. Nasser Hussain believes that he saw the best version of Virat Kohli in 2023.
He had a fantastic 2023 and he had a fantastic World Cup. All the records that he broke and the attention he got, actually what we didn't focus on was how well he was batting technically. I have not seen Virat bat as well as that.Nasser Hussain said told ICC
He added:
In the innings in Mumbai against Sri Lanka, I can name about five innings, but he was getting in such good positions. So that is a really good sign for Kohli and India and Virat Kohli fans because I think that means he is in a good mental space and his game is in order.
Despite playing only 2 formats, Kohli scored over 2000 runs in the year. In Tests, Kohli played 12 innings and scored 671 runs with an average of 671. He scored 2 centuries, with his highest coming against Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In ODIs, he scored 1000+ runs in a year for the 8th time. In 27 innings, he averaged 72.47 with a strike rate of 99.14.
