WATCH: Nitish Rana and Hrithik Shokeen get into a fight, KKR captain hurls abuses at Delhi teammate
Nitish Rana had to come to the crease a bit early as his team lost early wickets.

Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their fifth match in IPL 2023. MI’s stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first. Meanwhile, KKR’s Nitish Rana had to come to the crease a bit early as his team lost early wickets. But rather than steadying the ship, Rana fell too and then also got involved in a fight with Hrithik Shokeen.
As Shokeen got the best out of Rana, dismissing him for just five runs, the MI spinner poked fun at the KKR captain. But Rana was in no mood to take any banter as he started walking aggressively towards Shokeen to inquire what the MI player was saying. Shokeen too refused to back away and said a few words. This further agitated Rana who started hurling abuses.
However, things came to a quiet when Suryakumar Yadav and others intervened and pushed the two players away. This on-field verbal spat between the two Delhi cricketers attracted quite a few reactions from cricket fans.

Venkatesh signs for KKR!

While Nitish Rana and other top-order batters failed to put in a fight against the MI bowlers, Venkatesh Iyer stood tall and single-handedly carried the team. The Madhya Pradesh cricketer scored his first-ever century in IPL. Rana scored a century off 49 balls with the help of five fours and nine sixes. The southpaw was eventually dismissed by Riley Meredith on 104.
It’s worth mentioning that, it was the first century from a KKR player in IPL after 2008. After Brendon McCullum, Venkatesh Iyer has now scored a century for the Knight Riders.
