The Indian Premier League (IPL) has exhausted English player Harry Brook mentally and physically as the cricketer revealed the same in a press conference post the game on Day 1 of the ongoing fifth Ashes Test at The Oval in London. In the 16th edition of the IPL, which was also his first, Brook represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and became one of the most expensive players in the history of the game.

The 24-year-old is also playing his first Ashes series. During the press conference, a journalist asked the Englishman whether the Ashes is the most exhausting experience he has ever had. To this, Brook said Ashes comes next to IPL. He indirectly cited the schedule of the IPL the reason behind this.

The IPL was pretty tough to be fair. It has been tough but we obviously had that 10 days, a week or so off. I managed to go on holiday,” said Brook. He gave this interview after scoring 85 runs off 91 balls, the most by an English batter in their first innings. England posted 283, and have so far dismissed four Aussie batters for 142 runs (at the time of writing this article).

After his exploits in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Harry Brook became quite a sensation forging the IPL franchises to start a bidding war in the auction. Eventually, it was SRH who secured the services of the youngster.

However, with the bat Brook struggled badly initially. After a series of below-par performances, he finally managed to score a century in his maiden season. In 11 matches he played for the Orange Army, Brook could collect just 190 runs at a low average of 21.11 and a strike rate of 123.38.
