WATCH: Obed McCoy’s brain-fade moment helps Ravichandran Ashwin survive run-out

Ravichandran Ashwin and Obed McCoy
In the 1st T20 of the five-match series between India and West Indies, the latter’s bowler Obed McCoy did something that surprised the members of both the teams. He had a brain-fade moment and didn’t run out Ravichandran Ashwin even though the crease was very far away. The match took place on Friday, 29 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.
India was asked to bat first and after Rohit Sharma‘s excellent 64 runs, the finishing touches were given by Dinesh Karthik. When India were reeling at 136/6 in the 16th over, Karthik and Ashwin were playing.
Windies had a golden chance to dismiss Ashwin and build pressure on the visitors. When Ashiwn ran for the second time, he was far from the crease and the McCoy had got the ball in his hands.
McCoy kept the ball in his hands and saw Ashwin putting a full-length dive to cross the crease. It seemed that McCoy thought that Ashwin had already crossed the crease which stopped him from attempting a run-out. West Indies and Indian players, including the bowler himself were surprised by this.

“Don’t see Ashwin playing the T20 World Cup”- Parthiv Patel makes bold claim over Ravichandran Ashwin’s future

Ravichandran Ashwin returned to T20 squad after a long time to play the series against West Indies. His return has raised brows of many and they are thinking that Ashwin is still in the selectors’ plan for the upcoming T20 World Cup later this year.
But former wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel stated that he doesn’t think Ashwin will be in the squad for the World Cup.
“I see Bishnoi playing ahead of Ashwin in the next game (if India decide to go with two spinners). I don’t see Ashwin playing the T20 World Cup, to be honest. I would want variety in Kuldeep Yadav, Bishnoi and (Yuzvendra) Chahal. Wrist spinners give that attacking option in between. Ashwin doesn’t give you that,” Patel said.
“Even in India, you don’t see three spinners playing in a T20 or a one-day game. Tactically, India have been brilliant throughout this tour. Even in the last ODI, when they came in to bat after rain, they thought (more) rain would come, and they played like that. Today also, tactically playing three spinners,” he added.
