Star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant met with a horrific car accident near Haridwar in Uttarakhand on the Friday morning of December 30. After the incident made headlines, an old video of fellow cricketer Shikhar Dhawan advising the young wicketkeeper has been doing rounds on the internet. It’s Q & A video from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 when both played for the Delhi Capitals.

In the video, Pant asked Dhawan about any advice he would like to give him. To which, Dhawan said, “Gaadi aaram se chalaya kar(you should drive carefully).” That old video was posted by a user on Twitter with the caption: “Shikhar Dhawan gave Rishabh Pant the right advice about driving.”

Pant recently played the two-match Test series in Bangladesh which India won 2-0. In one innings, he scored a brilliant 93 runs. After the series, he was even spotted with MS Dhoni in Dubai.

He returned from Dubai on Thursday and was on his way to Roorkee, his hometown, from New Delhi. According to the police, Pant had dozed off in his Mercedes and completely lost control of the car. The speeding car then hit a pile of soil before crashing into the divider and getting engulfed in fire. He broke a window and got out of the car.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement shared about the injuries Rishabh Pant sustained and also said that the 25-year-old will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries. Pant was first taken to a nearby hospital and he was shifted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. He is out of danger and is stable now.

Rishabh Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back,” the BCCI said in a statement. BCCI has also advised the Max Hospital not to start treatment for the ligament injury immediately as Pant will be flown to Delhi or Mumbai for further long-term treatment.
