Cricket is not restricted to the traditional cricket-playing nations anymore. The craze for this sport has been growing at a quick rate, probably due to the advent of the T20 format. This year, cricket lovers are hooked on the silver screens, because they want to see the new world champions of the 2023 ODI World Cup. And to surprise the fans, Star Sports, the official broadcasters for the World Cup in India, invited pop sensation Dua Lipa for a virtual chat with the cricketers before the first semifinals between India and New Zealand on Wednesday (November 15).

The ‘Levitating’ singer was promoting her new song ‘Houdini’ and answered questions asked by KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Kane Williamson, and Daryl Mitchell. Rahul asked her which jersey number she would pick for herself, to which the ‘One Kiss’ singer said “22”, calling it her lucky number.

Williamson said he loved the song ‘Levitating’ and asked her which song she would love to perform, to which Lipa chose ‘Pretty Please’ and ‘Love Again’. Gill, on the other hand, asked her to pick two songs for the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup. The Albanian singer said that for sports-related events, she would choose her song ‘Physical’. 

Daryl Mitchell said his daughter loves her song and asked her about some dancing steps. Lipa laughed and said she thinks it’s important to enjoy while breaking into any dance steps.

Dua Lipa to perform at the closing ceremony of the World Cup in Ahmedabad? 

As Star Sports’s segment featuring Dua Lipa went viral, there is speculation of Lipa performing at the closing ceremony of the World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. The speculation started after Star Sports released the video on X.
