WATCH: Rashid Khan takes a brilliant catch to dismiss Kyle Mayers in GT vs LSG match
On the back of this stunning grab from Rashid, Gujarat got their first breakthrough as the 88-run opening partnership between Mayers and Quinton de Kock was finally broken.
Gujarat Titans (GT) vice-captain Rashid Khan took an absolutely sensational catch to dismiss dangerous-looking Kyle Mayers during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. Khan covered a distance of 26 metres before pouching the ball safely in the deep square leg region. The GT fielder also put in a dive to reach the ball.
As Kyle Mayers played a half-hearted pull against Mohit Sharma, the ball lobbed up in the air. However, there was enough gap between the two fielders at deep midwicket and long-on. While the fielder at long-on would have been in a better position to take the catch, Rashid called for it and completed one of the most sensational catches in tournament history.
The best part about the catch was Rashid’s judgement. The GT vice-captain covered a fair amount of ground and put in a dive at the right time to grab the ball inches above the ground.
Virat Kohli praises Rashid Khan
This catch from Khan was an instant hit on social media as fans praised the Afghan spinner for his agility on the field. But among many, RCB batter Virat Kohli was also impressed with this stunning effort from Khan. Kohli praised Rashid by putting up an Instagram story wherein he called it “one of the best catches”.
