As Shubman Gill turned 24 years old on 8th September, his fans celebrated his birthday in a very wholesome way. His fans celebrated his birthday by giving food to needy children. A cake was fed to the children and along with that, the kids were given food packages. 

A non-profit group called Easy Foundation has been feeding kids using donations given by people all around India. A fan club called “Shubman Gill ke 14” had donated money to the NGO and asked them to feed the kids.

Fans lauded this great initiative by the fans and praised Easy Foundation for their great service to society.

In July 2022, Shubman Gill had finally started to open for the Indian team regularly. In his first series against the West Indies, he scored 205 runs in 3 innings. His highest score was 98* in the series. 

After great series against New Zealand in New Zealand, Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home, Gill cemented his spot in the ODI team as the opener of the side, as . He had a great 2023 IPL as well, scoring 890 runs in 17 innings. 

But after the 2023 IPL, Gill has struggled. He had a lacklustre performance in the 2023 World Test Championship Finals, scoring only 31 runs in the two innings he batted. After replacing Cheteshwar Pujara as the Test side’s number 3 in India’s tour of West Indies, Gill scored only 45 runs in 3 innings.

In the ODI series against West Indies, Gill scored 126 runs in the 3 games, but underperformed in the five match T20I series in the same tour. He managed to score only 102 in five innings. 

In the first match of the 2023 Asia Cup, Gill struggled against the Pakistani pace attack which consisted of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah. He managed to score only 10 runs, despite batting 32 balls. The next match he scored 67* against Nepal in the game.

Gill is a part of the 15-man squad for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup and he is a confirmed starter for the side.
