Shubman Gill does not shy away from revealing how his father often scolds him if he does not play well. Lakhwinder Singh, the father of Gill, was watching his son bat from the stands of the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala during the fifth Test against England.
Seeing his son get to his Test century, Lakhwinder seemed ecstatic as he cheered for the 24-year-old. Gill then celebrated by bowing down to his proud father.

Lakhwinder has played an immense role in shaping Gill’s career by being the cricketer’s first coach, and worked hard to help his son fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer. Gill’s father still schools his son if he does not convert his half-century to a ton. In this match, as mentioned, Gill did convert his fifty into a century before James Anderson bowled him out.
Gill scored 110 from 150 balls with 12 boundaries and five sixes. Apart from him, captain Rohit Sharma also raced to his century (103 off 162) but got bamboozled by English skipper Ben Stokes on his very first delivery of the series.

Pressure had been mounting on Shubman Gill because he was not delivering consistently. After a couple of failures with his bat, the management reportedly gave the 24-year-old an ultimatum that he would lose the No.3 spot if he fails in the second Test against England. Gill then notched up his first century of the series in the Vizag Test.

Gill’s father, Lakhwinder Singh, told PTI that Gill had been stepping out to play a shot since his U-16 days but as he stopped doing the same, it created pressure on him.
Stepping out has made a big difference, he had stopped doing that and that created pressure. Since his U-16 days, he has been stepping out to the spinners and pacers as well to cut the movement.Lakhwinder told PTI
The moment you don't play your natural game you are in trouble. The whole game is about confidence. When you get one good innings you are back to your best.He added
India have been dominating since Day 1 of the fifth Test after they bundled out the visitors for 218 runs on the very first day. They have already won the series 3-1.
