When you hear these words- carrom ball, off-spin, leg-spin, arm ball- the picture of a spinner comes to your mind. But have you ever heard of a spinner bowling a bouncer?

The 66th match of IPL played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Supergiants on Wednesday, May 18 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. LSG had won the toss and opted to bat first and this decision proved wonderful for them as without losing any wicket, LSG had put on the highest stand in IPL of 210.

LSG openers Quinton de Kock had scored his second century in IPL. He smashed a massive 140* in just 70 balls with 10 fours and 10 sixes. The South African now stands third in the list of highest individual score. KL Rahul scored 68 in this match.

But another incident also made headline. On the third ball of the 8th over, Varun Chakravarthi bowled a no-ball to KL Rahul. Now Quinton de Kock was to play the free-hit. Everyone must have expected a huge hit from the set batsman but Varun Chakravarthi shocked everyone by throwing a bouncer. De Kock wanted to push the ball of 109 kph, but he fully missed it.

You can watch Varun Chakravarthi’s bouncer below:

Varun Chakravarthi had conceded 38 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 9.50. Tim Southee and Andre Russell had conceded most runs, 57 and 45 respectively.
